What people are saying about the Linking Leawood monthly networking event!

“Linking Leawood has been my most beneficial networking event bar none. My first Linking Leawood event was fun and productive but little did I know that the second one was even better. I made several great connections with two in particular that I know will make me money. Not only are the events financially beneficial they are just down right fun too. I would highly recommend the Linking events to anyone.”

9 Ways To Convince The CEO To Use Social Media and Enter The 21st Century

18 Aug

Thanks to Jeff Bullas for sharing these great tips!

Here are some tips, hints and resources to assist you in convincing “Management To Enter The 21st Century?” … do I hear the sounds of kicking and screaming from the boardroom?

1. Scare Them Two Ways

  • Ask them for 5 keywords or phrases that potential customers would use to find their/your company in a search engine, and then provide a brief report showing them the results of their ranking in Google, and ask a simple question, like, ” Did I find you on page one of Google?” ( the answer is mostly “NO”). So the best question to ask them next is, “How are they going to find you then  ..the yellow pages?”

then

  • Grade the website against two competitors (do more than two if you like… and the CEO’s ego cannot handle the competition kicking their ass), there is a free tool that I would recommend you use, which grades their website as marketing tool for being “found online” and uses a proprietary blend of over 50 different variables, including search engine data, website structure, approximate traffic, site performance, and others, it’s the Website-Grader fromHubspot. In most cases the website will seriously rank poorly against the competition ( I have had companies obtaining a grading of 4 out of a 100, with the competition  scoring 70’s and 80’s !!)

Note: I can guarantee you that you will NOW have their attention… seriously!!! …the CEO’s ego cannot handle the competition kicking their butt…

5 Things You Can Do to Spark Media Interest

7 Jul

By Chris Crum – Mon, 07/06/2009 – 1:57pm.

Media Coverage Can Make For Great Promotion

A little extra attention never hurts, and if you can get some media coverage for your business, you can get a lot of extra exposure. This is generally free exposure, at that.

I can speak from first-hand experience on this matter, because I get companies and PR firms coming to SmallBusinessNewz (not to mentionWebProNews) all the time wanting some coverage. This is a perfectly legitimate way to go about marketing your business, but as one who writes the articles and has the ability to control coverage (to some extent), I can tell you, we just don’t have time to cover everyone, even if we wanted to. I suspect that other publications could say the same thing.

So what can you do to increase your chances of media coverage?

1. Do Something That’s Different

The best way to generate enough interest in your business for a publication to cover it is to simply do something that makes you stand out. Do something different. Something new. Something that isn’t just a rehashed version of something we’ve seen time and time again. If it is interesting enough to appeal to us, we figure there is reason to believe it will be interesting to readers as well.

If your business is doing something interesting that nobody else is doing, and its worth talking about it, the right publications will (in theory) be interested in talking about it. Again, time and resources can often enter the equation though.
